Join Darcy Gray for the Abstract Painting Workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 2 at the Volcano Art Center Ni’aulani Campus in Volcano Village. This course is for those with a basic background in painting who wish to explore the techniques of abstract painting.
Darcy shares her passion for abstract painting in this introductory class that will help students learn to take risks and gain more confidence in their own way of painting. Students will develop sketches into final works of art, play with perspective and concentration, work with color, and then strive to paint intuitively and in different scales. Drawing paper will be provided in class for warm-up exercises and the drafting of paintings.
The class will paint on heavy 18 inch x 24 inch watercolor paper that has been coated with gesso. Darcy will lead students through fun exercises throughout the class, and students can take all their work home with them. Basic acrylic paints, pencils, brushes and other tools will be provided in class, but students can bring their own if they wish.
Class fee is $90 / $85 for ACC members, plus a supply fee of $20 for 5 sheets of 300 lb watercolor paper, pre-gessoed. Pre-registration is required as this workshop will be limited to 8 adults.
